The Weekender: 03.27.15 — How to introduce color into your apartment via @SavvyHome

I don’t think I’ve ever had a love affair with turquoise (I used to see it as a little tacky), but this year it’s on full throttle. Even my nails got the seafoam green treatment. Maybe it’s the tropical waters of Martinique, this incredible leafy wallpaper above, or Amy Stone’s instagram, but whatever it is, I can’t get enough. Turquoise is last year’s chambray around here and you’ll be seeing lots of it. #sorrynotsorry

Speaking of things you’ll be seeing lots more of in the coming weeks, my new apartment! I’m participating in the #oneroomchallenge kicking off next week and I couldn’t be more excited. Stay tuned!

Let’s not pretend here: I wrote this post a week ahead because I’m currently sipping a pina colada straight from the coconut at the edge of this pier (or at least I hope I am). Because of that, I don’t have much to report. So follow my shenanigans on Insta or Snapchat (@savvyhome). I promise I’ll do my best to entertain you.

It’s finally Spring!!! You guys, you have no idea how good it feels to jump from -15 to 5 degree days. With the “warm” front we had this week, I traded my boots for sneakers, my parka for a wool coat (unbuttoned yay) and even opened my car’s sunroof for the first time in six months! Better yet, with daylight savings it’s now light until 7:30pm. If all goes well, I’ll even stop bugging you about the weather soon.

It’s about to get muchhh warmer too, I’m jetting off to Martinique for a week on Sunday! I couldn’t be more excited to add this flavorful sunny locale to my list of countries visited. Thank you parents for picking such gorgeous family getaway spots. All I want to do is soak up the sun, feel the sand and salt on my skin and maybe read a book. Do you have any light beach reads to recommend?

You’d have to be crazy not to want to save up to $500 at Serena & Lily (or as my mom would say: ” you’d have to be a crazy person in a pocket”—she legit said that to me the other day and I thought: “What does that even mean!?? Who says that!”). Anyhow—use the code ENJOY and spend more, save more.

With so many gorgeous new arrivals, it’s not hard to find something to love at S&L: new sheets perhaps; a gorgeous leather stool; a Parisian bar cart (we all need one of those); a rattan hanging chair (why not); this rug (I’m adding it to my living room);  a summer throw; or one of their brilliant (literally) new lamps.

Is J.Crew ever NOT on sale? In all seriousness they have tons of crazy good new arrivals, so they need to get rid of their final sale styles. Get ’em at an extra 30% off with code SALELOVE.

Just on the first page I found five things to buy immediately: this metallic braid sweater, green chino shorts (always practical), this sleeveless side-zip top, this pinstripe swing skirt and this sequin trim sweatshirt.

West Elm is claiming having the best sale ever. Their words not mine. But seriously, everything is on major sale. Check it.

Want to have the same four poster bed as me (at a ridiculously low price might I add)? This cool as a cucumber kilim rug? This cute side table? Some new sheets? Towels? A jewelry tray? They’ve got it all.

It’s daylight savings this weekend! I could not be more excited. As I’m writing this, it’s still -12 outside (guys, if you’re ever considering moving to Canada, don’t), but the fact that we’re getting an extra hour of sunshine per day means that Spring is finally around the corner. I’m counting down the days until I can take advantage of my rooftop pool (because working from a long chair by a pool is still technically working, right)?

I’m so happy to have a couple of trips planned in the coming months because it feels like forever since my little feet have felt the warm tingle of sunshine—and they need it! So in a couple of weeks I’m off to Martinique for a muuuuch-needed family vacay. I’m trying to make my March playlist a little more tropical. Not long to go folks, Spring is just around the corner!
