“My husband always joked that my New York apartment was a total fantasy princess palace.”
Erin Fetherston’s last New York City apartment was feminine to say the least: ornate Bergere chairs, floral chandeliers, French antiques and lots of pink. But when the fashion designer moved to Los Angeles to accommodate her growing family, the started her decorating process with a clean slate. Wanting her entire family—her husband Gabe Saporta and her newborn son—to be represented in the space, she reined in the pink frills and imagined a space that’s fresh, breezy, and insanely cozy. With the help of Mat Sanders of Consort, the pair created a chic monochrome cozy home that embodied easy living. With a clever mix of iconic modern pieces and muted soft furnishings, Fetherston’s new blank slate home is one she will be able to build on for years.
Well, not exactly, but she just snagged a stunning condo in a historic Greenwich Village building—a short two blocks away! Take the tour.
New York City real estate—it’s scarily expensive, but it can also get real good, real quick. Proof: Ashley Olsen just got her hands on this stunning $7m apartment in a meticulously updated historic Beaux-Arts building. In true Olsen twins fashion, the apartment is sleek, and detailed. It’s chic, but not ostentatious. The cast-iron glass panels create a separation to the kitchen dining room, while still providing natural light throughout. The very private building features a 24-hour doorman, and fitness center. I could imagine entertaining in the large enclosed kitchen—and cooking for days. How would you decorate?

If you’re in the market, the terrace and penthouse are still on the market:
It’s a rare occurrence to come across a home tour this good—but the moment I laid eyes on Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber’s NYC Loft, I knew it was one for the dream home files. Designed by one of my all-time favorite design firms Ashe + Leandro, the home is a perfect balance of lived-in family home, and design masterpiece.
The Watts are no strangers to great taste, and beautiful homes. Naomi’s brother, Ben Watts, has quite the party pad in Montauk (another favorite home tour of mine). But this Manhattan duplex apartment takes the cake. Originally a loft, it was transformed into a two-story family home to accommodate Schreiber, Watts, and their two sons. Every corner of the home is more gorgeous than the next, but most importantly, it also feels comfortable, inviting and personal.
Needless to say, if I could swap homes with anyone, anywhere today—I would pick this Tribeca loft. Without a doubt. Who’s with me?
“When I set out to design this home I knew exactly what I wanted to create: a beach-y, layered and relaxed environment. I yearned to balance the modern architecture with the texture of natural elements and rich history of vintage finds.”
If a genie came out of a bottle and offered me to swap lives with anyone in the world, I’d pick Athena Calderone. Not only is she the queen of entertaining, cooking, interior designing and blogging, but her sense of style, family life and joie de vivre is seemingly perfect.
First, her duplex penthouse in NYC is what dreams are made of. She spends her weekends in this beautiful 60s midcentury modern Amagansett home—one of my favorite Hamptons town because of its laid-back and unassuming vibe.
