The Weekender: New Year

Happy new year! As you may have noticed, I took a little time off over the holidays—to disconnect and get the creative juices flowing again. It was nice to be in Florida for two full weeks away from emails and responsibilities. I got back to snowy temperatures in NYC but I have to say I like it—New York winters are definitely less harsh than in Montreal (so far)—and we’ve had a couple of beautiful sunny white days. It seems that nesting (and hygge) is the trending word for 2017—with no exception, I’m fully embracing spending time at home, making it as cozy and comfortable as possible, and getting back into cooking. Other resolutions for 2017: find a better work-life balance, get back into playing tennis, and be on time! What’s yours?

The Weekender: The Grind Before the Calm

Lucy Williams on @SavvyHome

They say the calm comes before the storm… But around here it feels more like the storm before the calm. There’s only two weeks left of work before a long well-deserved two weeks break—which means I’m cramming four weeks of work into two. But then, I’m off to sunny Florida for a whole 13 days! First in Palm Beach for Christmas, and then a little vacay from our vacay in Miami. To say I cannot wait is an understatement—I’ve been hawking Art Basel attendees on Instagram for their best Miami recommendations and there are some great new spots to check out! In the meantime, we’re deep in the grind at the office, but I decided to break up my last two weeks with an ultra relaxing weekend in the Hudson Valley next weekend. “Work hard, play hard” is my motto this month to get through end of year. What’s yours?

The Weekender: Falling in Love With this City

The Weekender on @SavvyHome

Every time I think it’s finally getting colder in New York, the city surprises us with gorgeous almost-summer weather. Just today, I had brunch outside—in November! The sun was shining, the leaves were slowly changing as we watched the New York marathoners finish their race while sipping on Bloody Marys. This weekend reminded me once again how much I love this city—where there’s always something to do, people to see, and more people to meet. There’s never a dull moment around here, and staying home becomes a rare luxury to relish in once in a while—like a visit at the spa or a Michelin-starred dinner. We may be paying absurd rents to live in literal shoeboxes, but we really do have the best backyard.
