House Crush: A Colorful Shingled Cottage

Taylor Borsari is a designer after my own heart. One that doesn’t fear bold colors and patterns but keeps a certain element of tradition in the shapes of furniture she chooses. She designed this green-shingled beach house for clients on Coronado Island, California. Since it serves as a holiday house, she was able to infuse an element of boldness in the house.
It seems she didn’t skimp on textiles with fabrics ranging from Martyn Lawrence Bullard to Schumacher and Quadrille, and wallpapers by Peter Dunham and Galbraith & paul. That being said, she did pick up a few budget furniture items from shops like Serena & Lily and Restoration Hardware. That’s the way to do it folks!
Seems I’m not the only one to think the house was a success as this home earned her a well-deserved spot in TradHome’s Spring issue.

The ayers, textures and colors in this house are amazing! I am an interior designer in LA and rarely do i find clients who are open to using this much color, inless its in a children’s room. So fantastic!

I guess the fact that it’s a second residence helped but I agree, I wish clients were more daring :))

Building a beach house…what color green are the shingles? Thank you

  • Donna

Love the bedding and I am desperately seeing new for master bedroom and a daybed. Have my usual go ‘tos” but they are wearing out after 26 years. Where might you suggest places to look?

Hi Donna, depending on what your budget is for bedding, I like to look at Serena & Lily and Crane & Canopy for the more budget options, and Matouk, Sferra and D.Portheault for the more higher end. As for accent pillow and throws, I’m very partial to John Robshaw. Hope that helps 🙂
