Planning: The Perfect Picnic

Planning the Perfect Picnic

Summer arrived overnight in Montreal. It happens every year: one minute we’re wearing jackets, scarves and boots and the next, its 80 degrees and everyone is in a sundress and sandals. All of a sudden, there are leaves in the trees and the grass is green again. This can only mean one thing: it’s time for a picnic.

In a place like Montreal where the outdoors is not a welcoming place 8 months out of the year, chances are that on the first warm days your patio is not yet organized. So the perfect solution is to throw on a cute summer outfit, some comfortable espadrilles, sunglasses and a hat, grab a roomy summer tote and take it to the park.

What do you bring in your picnic basket? Start with the basics: a large blanket, some napkins, shatterproof enamel dinnerware and glasses. I love these working glasses with lid from Williams-Sonoma which keeps everything tidy and spill proof. Don’t forget servingware, a trusty corkscrew and a nice bottle of rosé.
