One thing I repeatedly tell my clients is: only buy what you truly love. I guide them in defining their style and plan their space in a practical and coherent manner—but I never aim to dictate their personal taste. Anne Ziegler adopted this philosophy when relocating to LA into this charming blank canvas home in Laurel Canyon. It had recently been remodelled with whitewashed wide-plank pine floors and a crisp white palette. Ziegler brought in only items she truly loved—that she had collected over the years.
Maybe it’s the crispness of Fall, but I’m drawn to the “clean slate” approach to decorating these days: starting with a crisp white and neutral color scheme and bringing in color through art and accessories— whether it’s Josef Frank pillows, a cobalt desk lamp or a polka dot indigo blanket.
