Welcome July: Dog Days of Summer

Grey Barn Farm Martha's Vineyard, Architectural Digest, Hutker Architects, Summer Bucket List

As I write this, it’s about 150 degrees in my apartment and I won’t pretend I’m not working in my underwear while eating a fudgsicle (TMI?). Hi July—Summer’s here, and it’s a hot one! The media predicted above average heat this summer—I’m starting to think they were right. It’s a good thing I’m heading to the beach again in two days to cool off. In the meantime, I’m mentally beating the heat by preparing a short summer bucket list.

Part of the joys of summer is to simplify and slow down. I’ve already made the pact to enjoy summer to the fullest—I want to spend more time outside, less time working and spend more quality time with my family and friends. I want to try new things, push myself out of my comfort zone and unplug more often (says the girl who’s normally glued to her phone). I know a few people who will be happy about that last one! What’s on your summer bucket list? Here’s what’s on mine:

Take a two week vacation (aka work remotely from the beach)

Get this dress to stay cool on ridiculously hot days

Get really ridiculously good at tennis

Get at least a little better at golf

Attend NY NOW in August

Watch the sun rise

Read a book

Go sailing
