Brunch (like Paris) is always a good idea. But in case you’re looking for an extra special way to treat your mom this year, here are a few alternatives.
Gifts are nice (“and always welcomed” my mom would say) but the best ones are accompanied by a fun activity or thoughtful gesture. After all, every holiday on the calendar year is really just an excuse to spend quality time with the ones you love—and my mom just happens to be at the top of that list. I know I’m sounding like a total cheese ball at this point, but I don’t care.
We have a long tradition of Mother’s Day brunch in my family, but it’s always nice to shake things up a bit… Here are a few brunch alternatives to treat your mom this year.
HAVE A PICNIC
Grab your picnic baskets, blankets and a bottle of rosé and go have a picnic in the park, on the beach or wherever. After all, Spring is here and it’s the perfect time to start soaking those rays of sunlight.

GO OUT TO SEA
Take her out on the ocean, on a lake or a river… If your mom loves being on the water as much as mine does, she’ll be delighted. Go sailing, take a sunset cruise or take a row boat out on a lake. In Montreal, we have a spa on a boat in the Saint-Lawrence river called Bota Bota. It’s a winner.

TAKE A STAYCATION
You know that hotel in your own city that you’ve been dying to try? Invite your mom for a staycation and indulge in massages, breakfast in bed and the luxury of doing absolutely nothing.
