Savvy Tastemakers: Gabriel Scott

Savvy Tastemakers: Gabriel Scott

“I tend to treat decorating as I do other design problems, which is to say that I like to start with details and turn them into a theme to help inform the rest of the space.”

—Scott Richler, Gabriel Scott

Gabriel Kakon and I share more than just a first name and a hometown. Him and business partner Scott Richler have a keen eye for design and a business sense that quickly propelled them to the top of the world of furniture and lighting. With backgrounds in architecture, industrial and fashion design, these two brothers-in-law launched their contemporary line GABRIEL SCOTT in 2012, and opened their first showroom in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood. Since then, their pieces have been featured in countless interiors, from the windows of Bergdorf Goodman to high-end residential projects by designers like Amanda Nisbet and ASH NYC—and even in Sarah Jessica Parker’s old townhouse in Greenwich Village. The pair split their time between Montreal and New York, where they know all the best spots, without fail. You’ll want to know exactly where Gabriel eats and Scott shops. From Le Coucou to The Line—these two know where it’s at.

“Invest in quality furniture—you will love it forever!”

New York-born interior designer Lilly Bunn knows a thing or two about classic design. Having grown up in the Upper East Side, and lived in the Village for many years, her aesthetic sways between uptown and downtown—a clever mix of timeless elements with edgy accents.

When the mom of two moved back to the Upper East Side, she infused the space with pinks and reds—girls outweigh men in the house three to one, so it’s appropriate. In fact, Bunn’s playful nature prompted her to decorate the entire space for her two girls more than herself or her husband Chris. While her style is daring, it’s also 100% timeless. We tapped her expertise for all things design, and New York City! Read on for true city insights.

“Crisp and classic, these sheets are a sure fire hit with the guys and the gals.”

—Refinery29

A few weeks ago I received a set of Brooklinen Bedford Navy Stripes Luxe Sheets in the mail. I was initially intrigued by the brand after Will Nathan mentioned it in his Savvy Tastemaker interview—the clever name and the blue and white striped bedding was enough for me to give them a test run. I love how crisp and buttery-smooth they are!

I was such a fan of their quirky cool brand, that I reached out to the co-founders, Vicki and Rich to be part of the Savvy Tastemaker series. Read on for everything bedding and Brooklyn.
