I believe everybody has a preferred social platform… For some it’s Instagram, others Snapchat (follow me @SavvyHome). For me, it’s Pinterest. I know it’s not the most glamorous, but with 17,525 pins and counting, I think it’s safe to say I have an addition problem to pinning. The grid-like layout makes it easy for me to identify color palettes, find inspiration, nail down my style, or simply categorize everything and anything from my fall wardrobe, to hotels I want to visit.
The thing is, I never really get around to sharing all that beautiful inspiration on SHB (unless you’re looking at the recently pinned section in the right-hand column). So I figured I would remedy that by giving you a dose of my favorite pins, starting now. I spy shades of what I like to call “Savvy Home Blue” along with some greenery, blush pink and a whole lot of bright warm ivory. What are you pinning? Share in the comments below.
One of my favorite activities during NYFW is scrolling through each and every collection on Vogue.com (OK maybe just 80% of them) and picking out my dream designer closet for the season. All my favorite outfits are saved on my Runway Shopping Pinterest board.
It’s a great way to pick out trends and plan your wardrobe for upcoming seasons. For instance, I know that what I’ve pinned for Spring 2016 is a lot of embellished beach tunics, flowy maxi dresses and skirts (which I’ve never tried because I’m short but maybe 2016 is the year!), sheer fabrics, high waists, crop tops, off-the-shoulder, structured dresses in white, blue, sand, and shades of green.

Marissa Webb
Military lines are juxtaposed with sheer floral dresses in signature Marissa Webb. To decorate like her, try combining ultra masculine pieces and fabrics like leather and plaid with soft and feminine accents like breezy florals and dusty pinks.
Tomas Maier
Tomas Maier has stores in all the good places, from the Hamptons to Palm Beach, and that’s essentially what his collection conveys: beachy, laid-back vibes, always with an understated elegance. In your home, use lots of linen in both neutral and bright complimentary tones. Keep the décor minimal and opt for solids colors instead of patterns.
Diane Von Furstenberg
Diane, the queen! I was blown away by the collection, especially the white and gold maxi which reminded me of a scene in Mighty Ducks II where the boys go shopping on Rodeo Drive. Google it, it’s eerily similar. As we know, Diane von Furstenberg is all about feminine empowerment and doing what makes you feel confident. Adopt the same mantra for your home with tailored vibrant prints, timeless shapes and a touch of glam. Off to watch House of DVF now!
Tory Burch
Dear Tory, would you be a doll and ship the entire SS16 collection to my doorstep please? Ugh! Tory Burch is embracing the boho-prep trend like a champ, with breezy striped caftans embellished with Mexican and Romanian embroidery and lots of tassels. To decorate like her, imagine your home was located somewhere between Amagansett and Capri… Make sure the interiors are light and bright, and that there is no shortage of blue and white stripes or travel treasures.

See by Chloé stays true to its Cali cool boho vibe, with frothy breezy barely floral dresses and washed out stripes. To decorate like the Chloé gal, think sun-bleached textiles, breezy white curtains blowing in the breeze and a healthy dose of indigo denim.
Mara Hoffman
Wooooo! Mara Hoffman is smoking some good stuff, and I like the result! The rainbow maxi looks like the Jen Stark-painted mural at Surf Lodge this summer. The rest seems like something out of a Willie Nelson music video if there is such a thing (the song Blue Skies was an inspiration). To decorate like Mara, don’t hold back. On anything. Prison stripes, breezy linens, bold fabrics and kooky art—anything goes as long as it’s bright and a little quirky.
Tibi
Ahhhh the perfectly feminine minimalism of Tibi. It works every time. Beautiful relaxed cuts in deep or washed out colors… and this year: sequins! The Tibi house would look a little something like this: minimal in various shades of white and light neutrals with just a few accents of deep jewel tones mixed with their pastel counterparts. Understated and elegant, the subtle genius of the décor would be in the textures: silk and sequins mixed with simple cotton and sheers.
It’s been too long since I shared a monthly moodboard, but this week I felt particularly inspired. Things are in full-blown summer mode around here (despite the fact that I’m not traveling, I’m not on vacation and I’m working a ton). Since I can’t take the time off for a real vacation, the best I can do is take days off here and there for weekend escapes and trust me, I’m taking full advantage of those. All I need in the summer are some ocean waves and a few rays of sunshine.
Bohemian, modern, nautical: this is how I would describe my style in three words if someone asked. Everything I’m pinning these days is black, white or any shade between azure blue and forest green. The vibe is Montauk beach house meets Coqui Coqui meets the Croatian Coast. Can you tell I’ve got travel on the brain?
I’m already starting to plan my winter trips (because one needs to escape the freezing tundra that has become the northeast). 2016 will be my winter of the three M’s: Miami, Mexico and Martinique. I’m spending Christmas in Florida again this year (with a few days in Miami to explore and see friends); then in February I’m off to Cancun and Tulum for a wedding… Finally in March we’re planning a big family bash in Martinique. So I’m staying put until then (and by staying put, I mean I’ll probably be in NYC or Montauk every other weekend until Christmas).

I’m super excited to be packing for a girls weekend in Montauk today! To be honest, I’m kind of struggling with my packing (I feel like I need a shopping spree stat). BUT if I had it my way, this is exactly what I would pack. Four versatile outfits to take me from day to night; and from the beach to dinner. The key to Montauk style is to keep your outfits simple, chic and to the point. Flats are definitely the way to go as the flooring of choice in many places consists of sand, pebbles or grass… And a good frizz control hair product is essential!
