“Fashion Week is in NO way a battlefield. But love is…at least that’s what Jordan Sparks once sang to us…and man oh man, do we love our shoes.” —Man Repeller
New York Fashion Week is kicking off today, which means the sartorial society is flocking to NYC for a week-long fest of designer clads and blistered feet. We’ve all heard it—surviving New York Fashion Week is a wicked exercise in meticulous planning, power napping and choosing the right footwear. Here are three simple tips to make your NYFW experience a little less hellish.
Pick a hotel that inspires you
There’s no better feeling than waking up comfortably and getting ready in a space that’s practical and inspiring. My personal favorite in NYC right now is the Marlton Hotel. It’s conveniently located a stone’s throw from the West Village—tucked away from the hustle and bustle but just a few blocks away from the Meatpacking District.
Wear a tried and trusted outfit
I largely spend my summer in high wasted flowy skirts and sleeveless white shirts—so I know for a fact that any combination of the two will make me feel instantly comfortable and confident. Pair your outfit with a fun clutch and a practical timepiece.
Choose footwear that suits you
I personally have no problem spending hours running around in 100mm heels, but when it comes to endurance, I feel more secure being strapped in. These Acne Studios sandals are exactly what I’d want to wear at NYFW—fabulous with a (subtle) hint of practicality.
